Wasabi Restaurant and Bar, the only Queensland restaurant outside of Brisbane to be awarded two chefs hats, is Noosa River’s ultimate dining experience. The entirely waterfront dining space has spectacular river views, amazing sunset vistas by day and a warm contemporary intimate dining space by night.
Whether it is a group of up to sixteen guests dining in our new private dining room Ibento, or up to 55 guests dining in Wasabi exclusively, the team at Wasabi will cater the event to suit your individual needs.
In 2016 The Wasabi Group expanded to include The Cooking School Noosa and their new private dining room Ibento.
In Japan, many restaurants specialise in specific local cuisines that have evolved over the generations based only on ingredients that can be found in their local area. They present dishes that speak of the season and their surroundings. It seems natural, whilst trying to stay true to that concept and still maintaining an entirely Japanese aesthetic, we would draw inspiration from our beautiful surroundings in Noosa and use as many locally grown elements as we can.
Our preparation starts at our farm Honeysuckle Hill, where we grow many of our ingredients. We gravity irrigate with water from our natural spring. We compost the vegetable peelings and off cuts from the restaurant using the Japanese Bokashi method, which retains all nutrients, organic material and microbes.
The current menu is designed to showcase our farm produce as it comes into season, other regional ingredients and the amazing seafood from the local fishing fleet that day. In keeping with our philosophy, we strive to put a product on the plate we feel is honest and authentic to who we are.
Our goal is to always enjoy what we do more each day and thus hope to reward our wonderful clientele with the next stage of Wasabi’s continuing evolution. Providing a unique regional dining experience with a sense of place for our clients, whose continued support is greatly appreciated, is our ultimate ambition.
Wasabi offers two different styles of seating the western style to the front of the restaurant and the Tatami style (with sunken wells under the tables for your legs) on a mezzanine level behind. This means everyone can enjoy the view by day and an extra dimension is added to the room at night. The restaurant seats approximately 55 people, with 35 in the western style and 20 in the tatami style.
The Bar at Wasabi
The stunning river view bar area is available for private cocktail and canapé functions prior to dinner. Weather permitting, the giant glass windows are opened during the day to give the feel of an open air deck over the river. Please contact us for details regarding canapé and drinks options. With sunset views over the Noosa River, this is the ideal location to impress your friends, work colleagues or celebrate a special occasion in style.
Access to Wasabi Restaurant and Bar
Should you wish to access the restaurant by water, the Noosa Wharf jetty is located just 50m from the entrance, one stop from the Sofitel ferry jetty. If you are walking, it is 1km from Hasting Street. Car parking is available in the complex, on Quamby Place and Noosa Parade.
Group bookings are asked to preselect a menu. We offer the choice of a 7 or 9 course omakase degustation and a 3 course kaiseki banquet style menu. Stand up canapé style events are also available.
