Events this week

School holiday guide: There’s still plenty of school holiday fun around Noosa. Tewantin Splash Park is open every day on the Noosa River foreshore, Doonella St, Tewantin with free water sprays and fun for kids of all ages. Picnic tables and a skate park are nearby, and it's next to Noosa Marina with fish and chips, café, gelato bar and restaurants. Catch the Noosa Ferry from stops at Noosa Heads and Noosaville to the Marina. Imaginate children’s art exhibition and festival is at Noosa Regional Gallery, riverside, Pelican St, Tewantin (near the Splash Park) until 15 July with educational and interactive displays, workshops and events. Learn how to build gorgeous sandcastles in group lessons with Sandshapers on Noosa's Main Beach, and there's a Hotel Transylvania movie night with craft and games at Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, Sat 14 July (book on 5455 2209), Kids Room open from 5.30-9.30pm and adult supervision is required. Bastille Day: Celebrate Bastille Day this Sat 14 July with special French events! Maison de Provence in Cooroy in the Noosa hinterland has a special 3-course set menu for $50 per person, with entree of Bouchee a la reine milles feuille with scallops and white champagne sauce; main is Boeuf bourgignon with dauphinois potato; and choice of dessert with Creme brulee, Milles Feuille or Key lime meringue, BYO, no corkage, book on 5472 0077. Noosa Beach House Bar in Hastings St celebrates all through July with a glass of Moet served with Truffle Popcorn for $19, or taste the flavours of south-western France with deliciously marinated duck, served with orange and red chutney, shaved pear and rocket salad on a freshly baked baguette, with a side of shoestring fries for $24

Christmas in July
: Can’t wait? The River Deck Restaurant, right on the river at Noosa Marina has a 2-course traditional menu including turkey roast with chestnut stuffing, and plum pudding with brandy sauce for dessert, visit from Santa and live music on 16, 17, 23, 24 and 27 July, noon, $40 per person, must book on 5474 1100. Join Wood Fire Grill in Quamby Place, Noosa Sound by their fireplace on Wed 25 July, 6pm for their Christmas in July feast with a 4-course menu with matching wines and mulled wine on arrival for only $95 – book on 5473 5904 or online. Noosa Reef Hotel in Noosa Heads and Villa Noosa in Noosaville have traditional roast turkey and ham with roast vegetables for $19.90 throughout July.

Dry July at XO:

: Take a wander through the shops of Noosaville, alongside Noosa River, with a great range of stores offering homewares, fashion, surfwear, books, jewellery and more, in styles from beachy to classic and vintage. tart your shopping trip in the Gympie Tce, Thomas St and Mary St area, before relaxing at one of the many cafes and restaurants. If you’re driving, head a bit further on to Gateway Dve for some great warehouse-style fashion and homewares showrooms, or take the Noosa Ferry to Noosa Marina, Tewantin for boutiques, gifts, restaurants and bars on the river

Sunset cruise: The Noosa River at sunset is a beautiful way to start the evening and a cruise is a great way to arrive at dinner! Noosa Ferry has sunset cruises between Hastings St and Noosa Marina, Tues-Sat – ph 5449 8442. Noosa River & Canal Cruises leave from Noosaville and Noosa Heads, Wed-Sat, BYO snacks and drinks and they'll supply the glasses and ice buckets – ph 0414 727 765. The  Noosa Queen ’s sunset cruise leaves from Noosa Marina and is fully licensed – ph 5455 6661. MV Catalina has Saltwater Sunday cruises on Sundays, 3-6pm, ph 0484 598 993
